Jemma Kidd High Shine Silk Touch Lipgloss in Coral

jemma kidd high shine silk touch coral 4

This is my first Jemma Kidd product so I didn't know what to expect in terms of it's quality.

I got this free with Red magazine, however this usually retails at £14, so price-wise it is in MAC territory. This is in Coral, as I have plenty of pinks and reds, and I have always worn them as a safe option, so I decided to leave my comfort zone and go for something a little different. This really is a beautiful shade in the tube, however I was a little scared it would give me weird coloured lips, however not at all! This is sheer enough that your lips don't go orangey, but coloured enough to give lips a lovely and fresh tint of colour. I love this shade, it is different but pretty. The colour is also buildable so you can apply depending on what shade of colour you want.

In terms of formula it is as it says, high shine and silky. It doesn't settle into lines, applies evenly, sheer but buildable colour, it's silky but not sticky, and it lasted quite well on my lips. It doesn't taste of anything, however has a lovely and light citrus smell, kind of smells like fruitellas!

The packaging is nice and simple, but also strong and sturdy. It is also square which is a little unusual but nice.

Overall, a lovely lipgloss that's a pretty colour and great quality. Would I have paid full price for it... Probably, it is a really good lipgloss.

Sleek High Shine Lipgloss in Sweet Sixteen

Sleek High Shine Lipgloss Sweet Sixteen

This is a little gloss I got free from my last sleek order, which I think was cute! It is a light pink with silvery shimmer. As nice as it was to get it free, I am not impressed with this and can't imagine I'd use it. It feels sticky on the lips, it isn't all that glossy or "high shine", and it is a nightmare to apply as it isn't very liquidy at all. It has a lot of shimmer in it, however absolutely no colour pigmentation at all. Overall, it isn't what I look for in a gloss, and I am not going to be buying any of these!

Revlon Liquid Lacquer Lipgloss in Sparkling Wine

Revlon Liquid Lacquer lipgloss Sparkling Wine

This is super glossy and very pigmented! It is a lovely deep red shade, however it doesn't go on as dark as it appears in the tube, but it is a lovely and flattering colour nonetheless. It doesn't have an odour which is always a bonus (I hate bad smelling gloss!), however it doesn't have a huge staying power. The packaging is well made and doesn't look too bad, it's actually quite nice with the shiny lettering. This isn't a good gloss for everyday use since the colour is so deep, rich and bright, however it is nice when you want bold lips! You wouldn't even need a lipstick with this as it is so pigmented and covers the lips evenly and thickly, however it isn't overly sticky or gloopy. This is a good gloss, however I think it may be discontinued now :[

Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss in All Day Seduction

rimmel stay glossy all day seduction

Oh I say, sexy name! I love this colour. Swatched it appeared more of a coral, but in the tube and on my lips it appears to be more pinky red with gold shimmer which can make it look a little bronzey overall. This is lovely and shimmery, and a really cute colour. The colour goes on pigmented, though on the swatch I did put on a fair few applications on. I've had mine on for a couple ofhours now, and I have even had drinks and it is still all pretty much on my lips, I wouldn't say as glossy but the colour and shimmer is still there. So it is long-lasting, but not as long as the 6 hours it states! The packaging was ruined by a sticker stuck on the tube that has left it all sticky and gross! But the packaging is a little cheap anyway, though it is quite a big tube for the price! Overall it is a nice gloss for the price!

Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss in Non Stop Glamour

rimmel stay glossy non stop glamour

This is a lovely colour of gloss, it will look fantastic on top of nude lipsticks like MAC mythic or creme cup to give it a bit of a nude sparkle. On it's own it is quite beige with sparkle which makes it look a little golden. It is very nice and subtle, but would definitely benefit from being on top of a lipstick rather then being on it's own! In terms of the 6 hour staying power, I wouldn't say it stays on for 6 hours unless you don't eat or drink for all that time! However it does last longer then your normal gloss. The packaging is OK but a little cheap looking, however this was only £5.99, but the shop stuck a sticker on it so all the remnants of the sticky stuff is there!

Review; Bourjois 3D Effet Les Nudes lipgloss

This lipgloss I shall be reviewing is in "Rose Mythic" No 34

Bourjois effet 3D Les Nudes in Rose Mythic

The thing that first hit me with this lipstick was the availability, it has taken me weeks to get my hands on this shade. After trawling 3 boots and 2 superdrugs I finally found one 2 weeks later that had it in stock, it was always the shade that was sold out.

Once I had got the lipgloss and had tried it the first thing I noticed was the smell, it smells very sweet like sherbert, I like it but I can imagine a lot of people won't, however at least it has a more pleasant and edible smell then some lipglosses which can smell chemical, plastic or play doh! It has a small little brush which makes it easier to apply more precisely. The colour is sheer, a beige-y pink with some minimal sparkle. I find a drawback is that it does settle into the lines of your lips, however it is not too sticky, gloopy or thick in consistency. It is so light, unnoffensive and lovely in consistency that I could, if I wanted to, wear this everyday. As nudes go I am very drawn to this as I tend to opt for just baby pinks when I go for nudes, so it as nice to try a more beige variety (though still obviously pink) and to really like it.

Bourjois 3D Effet Les Nudes in Rose Mythic (34)

I paired this with MAC Creme Cup lipstick to create the pink-y beige nude lip. I think the lip gloss colour pops so much more and shows its colour better when on top of a lipstick base. I will definitely be pairing this up with a few lipsticks to see how it goes!

mac creme cup + Bourjois effet 3D Les Nudes in Rose Mythic (34) = Bourjois Rose Mythic over MAC Creme cup

My camera is playing up so unfortunately the quality is quite bad today, I'm afraid :[

Review; MAC Dare To Wear Lipglasses!

Firstly Gimme That;
MAC Dare To Wear "Gimme That" Lipglass

I did a squee of joy when I first saw this as I love my hot pink/magenta lip products, and when seeing it in person in the tube I was even happier. This story now comes up to the part when I say HOWEVER, since from now on the positive vibes tend to fizzle out and a wave of negativity basically takes over the rest of the review. When I applied the lipgloss the very long applicator made it feel a little weird and it was more difficult to be precise in application. The second thing I noticed was the awful consistency of the lipgloss, it is so thick you have to virtually rub it onto your lips, it felt like I was applying more of a dry lipstick then a gloss, and then I felt like every time I closed my mouth it was gluing my lips together, it feels so thick and tacky that it is almost like an adhesive! The third and final disappointment was the colour on my lips. It does not go on like it appears in the tube, it goes on a lot more purple then hot pink as there is so much lilac shimmer/glitter that I found that in artificial light the purple drowned out the hot pink, so after all my excitement about the colour I was so disappointed, it isn't the magenta I was looking for. I would love to try and wear it more to get used to the colour, but that texture makes me want to never touch it again!

This picture is a little deceptive as it appears a lot more purple in real life, the flash seems to have washed out the purple.
MAC Dare To Wear Gimme That!

Lastly, Bold & Brash;
MAC Dare To Wear "Bold And Brash" Lipglass

I have to make a point straight away that this didn't have the same texture as Gimme That, it was not as thick, dry in texture, or as gluey, so already it is miles ahead in my opinion, however it still wasn"t as smooth and glossy as I would want from a gloss. The colour goes on exactly as it is in the tube, so another bonus for this gloss. It is a lovely vibrant shade of red with some shimmer thrown in. However again the wand is just too long for my liking and I am still not 100% on the texture of this formula.

MAC Dare To Wear Bold & Brash

So, as an overall roundup;
The wand is too long, the textures are not all that nice (in terms of Gimme That the texture is downright vile), however the colours are pigmented in comparison to the other MAC lipglosses, and they definitely do represent the ethos behind the collection. Overall, a mixed bag, but I certainly wouldn't go out and rave about them, though I would wear Bold & Brash again as I feel the texture is a little more bearable then Gimme That, plus the colour is a lot more of what I was expecting.

Review; MAC Dazzleglass Creme "Creme Allure"

Creme Allure

MAC Dazzleglass Creme "Creme Allure"

This was from the 2009 Fall Dazzleglass Creme collection. This, in the tube, looks like a deep hot pink/magenta with lighter pink glitter in it, however like most MAC lipglosses it goes on a lot sheerer then it appears in the tube. It still goes on a hot pink however not nearly as dark as in the tube and I find it can go a bit streaky/patchy as you can see lighter sections where your lip is more visible and where it has gone darker due to settling into the lines on the lips. This isn't as sparkly as I was expecting for a dazzleglass, I have some lipglasses that have a more obvious "dazzle" then this. However I really love the colour and there is more product in the tube then the lipglasses, and I can't complain seeing as I got it £4 under retail at my local outlet.

Fooling around with the Girl About Town :D

So, I have been messing around with my new favourite lipstick, and so far I like;

Girl About Town & Sweet Strawberry. To add a little to the colour but give it a little bit of shimmer too (bluey purple shimmer) I used Hello Kitty Sweet Strawberry for a more simple take;

MAC Girl About Town + MAC Hello Kitty sweet strawberry gloss =

MAC Girl About Town & Sweet Strawberry Lipglass

Girl About Town & Sweet Tart. For a maxed out pop of colour and intense glitter for an out there massive lip look I like the Sweet Tart Superglass. I think in all fairness Cherry Electric Superglass would work better, but I don't have it (maybe I should order it??) since it would intensify the colour rather then tone it down and add different colour glitters. The picture doesn't even give you a sense of how mad the glitter is in real life! Anywho;

I love playing around with this lipstick, it's so versatile!

Review; MAC Superglass (Gift Wrap & Sweet Tart)

MAC Superglass.

These are love/hate for me! Firstly I will start off with what I love.

I love the colours, they range from sheer to more pigmented, the 2 I bought are a little on the sheer side but I want the glitter to speak for itself. I love the madness of the glitter, the chunks are huge and a little holographic, however depending on the shade of superglass you buy the glitter is a different colour. The packaging is really cool and the tubes are bigger then your average lipglass/dazzleglass... however since it is about £2 dearer so it should be!

My dislikes of the superglass are the fact that the formula is very sticky and thick, but I guess it has to be to hold all the glitter. The glitter does not apply evenly across the lips it tends to clump and go patchy, and also when you remove it or it wears off naturally you have glitter left on and around the lips.

Overall I am glad I got them, they are an amazing product, but I won't be brave enough to wear this all that often with the dislikes (my main beef is the patchy glitter and left over residue!)

Review; Illamasqua Sheer Lipgloss Electrify

Illamasqua Electrify.

Illamasqua Sheer Lipgloss Electrify

This is one of my favourite baby pink glosses. It is a lovely shade, and even though this is supposed to be a sheer colour it has a lot of coverage and pigmentation. The one thing I dislike about these lipglosses is that is has no brush, just a nib with a hole in it, and because it is a squeezy tube it is hard to control the amount of product that comes out. However I guess it means you can get more product out since you don't have to depend on scooping it out of the tube with the applicator. If you squeeze it out onto a lip brush it is easier to apply, however it is a bit of a pain, especially if too much product squirts as you can't put it back into the tube!

Review; Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss Petulant

Illamasqua Petulant.

Illamasqua intense lipgloss Petulant

I love the Illamasqua glosses! They aren't too sticky and the colours are lovely, they also have some unusual colours no other brand would dare touch! This is a shocking colour in the tube, but if you apply it sparingly it is more like a beautiful hot pink, but it is a buildable colour. I love this colour, it is so beautiful and pigmented, but in all fairness I don't see as much difference between pigmentation in the sheer glosses and the intense glosses, both are more pigmented then MAC lipglasses.

Review & Overview! Laura Geller Tropics Deluxe Collection

Laura Geller Tropics Collection.

Laura Geller Tropics deluxe collection

This collection includes a lip shiner (City Lights), a lip gloss (Tropic), a lipstick (Tropic) and a blush (Blush N Brighten - Tropic Hues). I will go through each Item separately as well. The collection has a patterned pink metal packaging which is super cute and good quality... Not so good if you don't like pink, as there is no getting away from this eye-catching girly shade! The colours of the products themselves compliment each other, and I'd say they are a year round thing rather then seasonal. They aren't normally colours I would go for but I have grown fond of the shades and I guess I have broadened my make-up horizons a little.

Laura Geller tropics
Laura Geller Tropics collection open

Met Expectations: The City Lights Lip Shiner. It smells of tropical punch, absolutely delicious, and I just love the glitter. Not as huge as MAC superglass glitter, but still not all that subtle. This is something my collection has needed! It's so pleasant to wear it. Because it is neutral in colour this can go over any colour of lipstick, so it is very versatile!
Laura Geller Tropics Lip Shiner - City Lights

The Pleasant Surprise: The Tropic Lipstick. I never expected this to suit me, but it actually does and I like it a lot, it goes on more sheer then in the tube, but still a buildable colour. If it went on immediately dark like the gloss instead of being a light buildable colour I really don't think I would like this at all! It goes on more pinky red then brown too and thats what I like about it.
Laura Geller Tropic Lipstick
Laura Geller Tropics Lipstick swatch

Neither Rant Nor Rave: Tropic Lipgloss. This I wasn't sure about as it really is quite dark for what I am used to. It is a little more reddy then brown which is a positive, but I am still unsure whether I would grab this gloss on a regular basis as I tend to go for more pink based glosses and this is really quite a dark colour. It is a nice colour, but not a look I'd want all that often... Though that may change as I get older :]
Laura Geller Tropics Lip Gloss
Laura Geller Tropics Lip Gloss swatch

The Let Down: The Blush n Brighten Tropic Hues Blusher. I thought this would be my HG from this collection, and there is such an internet rave about it. It is gorgeous in the pan, and has really nice colours, however it is really glittery and I am not a fan of glittery blush, a subtle shimmer is OK but this is really quite glittery. And to put salt in the wound I am actually allergic to it! I swatched it on my hand, and my hand started to itch, thank-goodness I didn't put it on my face! In all fairness I have got sensitive skin and I have been allergic to MAC liquid foundation and even Estee Lauder liquid foundation before now, but never normally blushes or other face powders, I have Too Faced, Urban Decay, MAC etc and I have never had any problems! So I am unsure what to make of this. I was so disappointed :[ I do suggest that this problem may be personal to me since my skin is sensitive anyway, so it may not be a problem for the majority.
Laura Geller Blush n Brighten - Tropic Huesblush n brighten swatch

So in a nutshell, some good, some bad, and unfortunately some ugly. Overall a beautiful collection for all year round, especially those who like the darker lips and sparkly pink cheeks!

Review: Lipgloss

n this update I will be reviewing MAC Plushglass in Full For You, and L'Oreal Glamshine Volumizer in Fuschia Obsession.

Firstly; MAC Plushglass in Full For You.

MAC Full For You Plushglass

This was the brightest pink they had, however the colour pay off isn't nearly as good as I expected. It smells a bit random, like a sort of gingerbready smell to it, but feels nice on the lips and goes on nice. It does plump up the lips a little. It was slightly glittery but not overwhelmingly so. Do not wear if you have slightly dry, chapped or very liney lips as it will create more lines, wont have a smooth finish and may get little clumps of lip gloss on the surface. It lasts a while on the lips.

MAC Full For You Plushglass

I would give this 3/5 as it was nice, plumped a little, felt nice and tingly, could go clumpy and liney and the colour pay off wasn't as bright and glossy as I would have liked. It was expensive for the amount you get and they should have brighter more plumping colours. I would use it again though, but would make sure my lips are well moisturised first.
And the last one of the update; L'Oreal Glamshine Volumizer in Fuschia Obsession

L'Oreal Glamshine volumizer in Fuschia

I love this colour it is so deep pink and sparkly, and looks really glossy, sparkly and bright on. It lasts for ages, just looks a little less glossy as time goes on. It has a really good colour pay off. The only thing I am not keen on is the applicator which is flame/less rounded tear drop shape which is a bit furry and the shape makes application to the top lip a bit more difficult. Also gives a plumped look due to the deep and shiny colour. It smells like fruity candy though it may not be to everyone's tastes. I would say it was more glossy then the plushglass.

Overall I would give this 4/5 as it is a really lovely colour, gloss, sparkle, it smells nice and it does last a while. It is tingly and plumping just like the plushglass but it was half the price of the plushglass and you get much more. But it doesn't get full marks due to the applicator. I think your lips would need to be moisturised for this gloss too.
