Review; Too Faced Glamour To Go Pocket Palette

Too Faced Glamour to Go
Too Faced Glamour to Go

I had mixed feelings about this palette when I got it. I shall explain why in sections...

Size/packaging;

It is very, very small! It can fit on the palm of your hand. For the money, the size is pretty appalling. I get that it is for travel, but this is so small it is bound to get lost in your bag. I also had reservations about how small the eyeshadows were since there is no way you could get a brush in there! I also would prefer more eyeshadow colours then lipglosses, but that's just me. The packaging is chunky but sturdy, and I guess the brushes are useful since no "normal size" brush would fit into the eyeshadow pans, and normal lip brushes would probably take up half of the lipgloss from the pan! However, because they are so small they are difficult to use, and I never find sponge applicators that useful.

Eyeshadows;

The eyeshadows are lovely colours! Very neutral and wearable everyday colours.

The pink has a lovely iridescent shimmer to it, however it isn't hugely pigmented in comnparison to Urban Decay shadows (considering they are around the same price), and it needed a lot of applications to get the colour to show up. It is definitely the least pigmented out of all of them, which is a shame as it is the nicest shade in my opinion.

The dark brown is the most pigmented, and it also has glitter specks in it, however not so much that it takes over or has a load of fall out. This shade showed up very easily, and didn't need multiple applications to get it to show up, unlike the pink colour and nude colour. This would make a nice crease colour.

The light brown isn't all that pigmented, but didn't need as many applications as the pink and nude to show up. It is a nice shimmery colour once you get it to show up.

The nude took a few applications to show up, it is quite light, but a little more pigmented then the pink. This shade, like the dark brown, also has specks of glitter in it, however not so much that it makes you look like a disco ball. This is a very pretty but subtle colour.

Lipglosses;

These lipglosses are pretty much all the same colour, there's the goldy beige colours and the pinks... that's about it! One thing I hate about Too Faced lipglosses is that they stink of plastic/chemically grossness. I haven't found a pleasant smelling one yet! Considering how MAC glosses smell, Too Faced have a long way to go in the gloss department. The colours are nice and pigmented, and aren't overly sticky, however they are quite thick and gloopy. I also had an allergic reaction to these glosses after swatching them on my hand, and that's never good, and I am now far too dubious now to put it on my face. I do have sensitive skin, so keep that in mind.

So overall, overpriced, under-sized, but a nice "everyday" look palette, that unfortunately doesn't have bags of variety. This is to me the C grade student of the eyeshadow palette world.

These colours were so much easier to use then the mattes from the day look, though I really don't like the colour going to the brow bone, as I have mentioned before, I feel like a clown wearing it as it seems so OTT to me. The colours are very soft and pigmented, but not so powdery that they go all over your face, and they were very easy to use to do the look. The colours are also very different in shade unlike the mattes so it is so much easier to blend, and the colours compliment each other so well. I would definitely use these colours again, maybe even on their own, I really like silk teddy on the lid as it is a more pink champagne colour when you pack it on, but I would also do the neutral eye again as well.

The colours are gorgeous and this look reminds me of the Georgio Armani Prive Autumn/Winter 2010-11 make-up (though a considerably toned down version).

Review; Too Faced Natural Eye Kit "Day Look"

Day look;

I am no good with mattes anyway, however I found this particularly hard to work with, mainly because of the matte finish, but also because Heaven and Velvet Revolver go on so similar in colour that it is difficult to see the difference between them when on the eye, so it looks like you are only wearing 2 colours. I tried to do the look on the card but 1) I hate putting eyeshadow up to the brow bone as it makes me look like a clown and 2) the last colour sexpresso wasn’t pigmented enough or easy enough to use to be able to line the eyes with it, I tried but it just went on too light! I like the effect it gave my eye, and I like the neutral look and how wearable this is, but the shadows were just so difficult to work with and similar in colour for me to try it again and practice with it. I think I will give up and move on, or mix up the shadows a little!

Review: Some Too Faced eye products

In this update I will be reviewing Eye Shadow Insurance Policy palette, Liquif-eye Shadow Collection and First base eyeshadow base and primer.

First up; Eye Shadow Insurance Policy palette

I love this palette, it has gorgeous colours that are creamy, blendable and highly pigmented. I did find they were prone to creasing or slid into the crease of the eye rather then staying on the lid, but used with my everyday base they stayed on a bit better, but still faded by the end of the day. But the colours are worth the hassle and it is a good price. The shadow insurance primer didn't work for me as I have oily lids and thats what created the colour sliding into the crease of the eye.

I would award this palette 4/5, but that is purely for the beautiful, pigmented and rich colours.

Second up; Liquif-eye Shadow Collection

This palette is great as it has some exclusive colours, and some resemble MAC colours (the moss green = MAC Humid; The purple = MAC Parfait Amore; the sparkly grey = MAC print etc) so they are really good colours, pigmented and rich as I normally find with Too Faced eyeshadows.

The drawbacks are that the liquif-eye solution I found didn't work as well as dampening an eyeliner brush (which is a lot cheaper), and some of these colours are on the Eye Shadow Insurance policy palette and Smoky Eye kit. I wish they would use completely different colours for each palette so you don't have doubles of everything and have more variety.

I would award this 4/5 as it is a cute little palette with a variety of cute and pigmented colours.

Finally; First Base primer and base

I was looking for a base (currently using Revlon creme shadows without primer, which works well with MAC but not so much with Too faced) that worked with Too Faced, so I tried this base by the same company. It was more expensive then the Revlon quad, however I have found you have to pile it on to get any sort of good coverage, it isn't so good if you want a daytime look as it is very sparkly, and the colour still just slipped into the crease rather then staying on the lid, and it didn't have a good colour pay off (I didn't make a good enough base for the colour to pop like most creme bases do) so it didn't work that well at all. It is a cute idea and can be used for a sparkly highlight, but does not work well as a base/primer. It is meant to be soothing as well, however it goes on so sparse that I couldn't feel any effects.

I would award this 2/5, it is a cute sparkle but is not a good primer, base and has bad coverage for oily lids. Doesn't do what it says on the box.
