Chanel - Ombres Perlees De Chanel Eyeshadow Palette

photo-73

I had been after this palette for a while, so I was very glad when I finally got my mitts on it. The colour selection to me seems to be neutral and smoky, there aren't masses of looks that can be done with the colour selection, but they are good staple colours.

I have never had Chanel eyeshadows before, so I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of quality. I have found that they are very smooth and buttery, so lovely in texture! In terms of colour pay off some of the shades are better than others, I found the lightest colour and purple were hardest to work with, They weren't as pigmented as the others so they took a little more work in terms of pay off and blending.

The packaging is very sturdy and has a great mirror in the compact as it's really quite big, so it's a useful palette for travel. It comes with 2 double ended applicators, 3 sponge heads and a brush head, though it would have been useful to have more brush heads rather than those annoying sponges! But at least there is one brush!

Overall, it is a good palette, I love the colours though some colours work better than others. However for the quantity and quality I think it is overpriced.

Chanel Le Venis; Yay Or Nay?

chanel collection

The reason I am doing this post is because I get so many mixed comments on my Chanel Le vernis posts. There are people saying they are unique and good quality, people who say they love them but they're too dear, and there are people who think they aren't worth any money and they're overrated! So what do you think? . I personally love them and collect them, the picture above is my collection early on, it's gotten a little bigger since then! I got my first Le Vernis (Kaleidoscope, far left on the picture) for £10 off eBay, and I loved the colour and quality so much that after that I was hooked! I tend to collect the more unique and cult varnishes, and to me they are dear but they're worth the price as I love the product! My more recent purchase was the gorgeous black pearl! . I find they are pigmented, glossy, quick drying and long lasting, and the colour selection is awesome! I use these sometimes for nail art as well, as the colours are so strong and show up so beautifully, and they stamp and transfer well! . So what are your thoughts on Chanel Le Vernis? :]

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle

Chanel Coco Madamoiselle

This is my holy grail perfume! . This is a beautiful, sophisticated and classic fragrance, and as soon as I smelt it I knew I had to have this! Sometimes I get sick of wearing a fragrance, however I never get sick of this! . Chanel describes it as an "Oriental-fresh, a floral jasmine-rose accord, as light as a petal" and it is a spot on description, it is a light floral scent, very inoffensive, none heady scent that lasts all day. . The downside? The price! It is very expensive, but very much worth it! I got this as a present from my Mum and Dad, they got it from Duty Free so it was a little cheaper.

Chanel Le Vernis Vendetta

Chanel Vendetta Le Vernis

As pretty much always, my swatch is messy, so again I apologise, but I did this in a rush before work. This goes on a lot differently then it appears in the bottle. It isn't as shimmery and it is a lot darker purple. It can appear black in dim light and it also isn't as glittery on the nail as it appears in the bottle. This reminds me of a dark blackcurrant colour. It is very thick in texture so you could get away with one coat, however for it to be more even and long lasting I would say do two, it dries so quickly anyway that it isn't too time consuming to use two. It is super glossy and the formula is very colour pigmented. It is a very unusual colour and it's a good quality product, however it does not come out onto the nails as it appears in the bottle. Oh and an additional note, this is part of the permanent line, it is not limited edition.

Chanel Beaute Initiale Eye Gel

Chanel Beaute initiale eye gel

I like this, but I am also disappointed by this. You only need to apply a small amount and dab it lightly with your finger along the dark area of your eye and bags. It is a pleasant smelling light pink gel that feels very cooling on the eyes, it feels really nice especially if you are feeling tired as it is very refreshing. I found it also lightens the bags to a shade lighter, so instead of dark purple mine became more pinky red, and so once the gel had sank in I found it easier to conceal the bags. Chanel claims this gel gets rid of puffiness and dark circles, and although it refreshes and lightens the eye area slightly, I don't think it meets it's claims and therefore I don't believe it is worth the price. I also found that sometimes it is difficult to get the under eye concealer to blend in when I have used this, it wouldn't sink into my skin properly, so you have to leave it a fair while before you can apply anything on top. Overall, I wouldn't purchase this again.

Review; Chanel Le Vernis Paradoxal

Chanel Paradoxal Le Vernis

This was the last one in the trafford centre, luckily for me, the lady didn't even know if there were any left at all, but there was just the one left hiding in amongst other colours. I bought it in selfridges, as debenhams and boots didn't even have a place for it. There has been a lot of buzz about this nail varnish and it not a surprise as to why. There are many cult Chanel nail varnishes which end up "wanted products" such as Jade, Holographic, Particulière, Kaleidescope, and I believe Paradoxal will join the list. Such a weird colour. It's like a charcoal plummy brown, which smokes out purple glitter, and when light hits it the bright purple glitter shines through. They have so many unique and gorgeous colours that are difficult to dupe, as some of them are so complex. So so expensive though!

Review; Chanel Le Vernis "Particulière"

Chanel Particulière Le Vernis

This is one of those cult Chanel colours seen worn by celebrities, and it sold out like nobodies business, however Debenhams currently have it stocked! (and although unrelated to Particulière, they still have Paradoxal!)

But why has this colour become so cult? Well, it is a beautiful greyish taupe and is one of those beautiful and unusual Chanel colours that not many brands sport. Although it can be duped pretty closely (but not 100%) by other high end brands like OPI, there are many reasons as to why this is worth a splurge.

It goes on evenly and pretty opaque, however it looks a lot better with 2 coats so you don't really need to apply that much, and the fact it dries so quickly (the quickest out of any brand I have tried, which is a lot of them) means that it isn't a hassle to apply. It is very glossy like the majority of Chanel Le Vernis, and even though I am possibly the most inept varnish applier it always looks fantastic after I've applied it! The brush makes it pretty easy to apply, so I don't have the "varnish all over the fingers" look due to the brush being too big (I always have that problem with Nails Inc. but that's for another review), it is very easy to use and control the brush. I have a very manual job and yet it is still as shiny as when I applied it, and it hasn't chipped, which is very good considering I didn't put a top coat on (I ran out :[ )

So if you love the colour and want to start getting Autumnal, I would consider the splurge, as you certainly get quality with this product. And if you collect Chanel Le Vernis, this is a must have for you're collection! I have had countless compliments of this varnish and have even had "Is that Particulière!?" So yes, it has my nails seem to get more attention then me!

Review; China Glaze For Audrey

china glaze For Audrey

This is one of the nail polish shades I have been most complimented on, by both men and women, whenever I wear it. I originally bought it because my Mum is named Audrey and it is her favourite colour is turquoise, and it is also her birthstone, so it reminded me of her. The fact it is such a cult and awesome product just happened to be an added bonus. It is a beautiful green tinged blue, I wouldn't know whether to call it an aqua or a turquoise, either way it is a very bright, cheery and flattering colour! This really brightens me up when I wear it. I really like Chanel, and was GUTTED with a capital G when I couldn't get Nouvelle Vague, however this China Glaze shade is the closest you are ever going to get, and it's good quality and cheaper by about £10! I am therefore not as heartbroken :]

If you can get it, go for it, I doubt you'd regret it.

Review; Chanel Le Vernis "Kaleidoscope"

Chanel Kaleidoscope.

Chanel 479 Kaleidoscope Nail Varnish

I absolutely love this nail polish, I didn't use a base coat or top coat and it looked absolutely fantastic and lasted really well. The appearance of this is very unusual, it is very hard to photograph the colour like it is in real life. It is a tarnished metallic olive goldy colour, though can sometimes look a bit silvery! There are some dupes out there however this is a lovely quality nail varnish, and I'm not really sure dupes would dry as quick, last as long or have the same unique tarnished look. After this polish I am definitely a Chanel convert! Unfortunately this varnish is no longer available in stores.
