MAC Wonder Woman Spirit Of Truth Nail Lacquer

MAC Wonder Woman Spirit Of Truth Nail Lacquer

I love this nail varnish! MAC has really pulled out the stops on this one! . This is such a thick and pigmented formula that it only needed one coat! It didn't take that long to dry considering the consistency. It also dried really glossy. . In terms of colour it is as it appears in the bottle, a deep navy blue, which is super pretty! It is pretty easy to dupe but the formula is so lovely that I doubt a dupe would be as good. . The downside? I hate the fact that you pay more then normal for this, when all that is different is the packaging I don't even like! It's the same amount of product, yet it is £1 dearer and looks pants! But apart from that I love this lacquer!

Wonder Woman Spirit of Truth Swatch

Laura's Look book! Wonder Woman Nude Lips

Wonder Woman Nude look

This is Marquise D' lipstick & Emancipation lipglass. . Marquise D' is a good base for Emancipation, as they compliment each other very well. Emancipation is a little sheer and patchy on it's own, so Marquise D' makes it a little more full and better coverage. I like this nude, it is really quite wearable.

Laura's Look book! Wonder Woman Red Lips

Wonder Woman Red look

This look is Russian Red Lipstick & the self named Wonder Woman Lipglass. . This makes a powerful shocking red lip combo! The Russian Red acts as a very strong base which strengthens and compliments the Wonder Woman gloss. This is a very daring and very eye-catching look which isn't massively wearable. The applicator from the gloss made it hard to apply precisely. . This look made my lips look HUUUUUUGE! I am not sure I would wear this look, I think the gloss is good on it's own.

Laura's Look book! Wonder Woman Defiance

Wonder Woman Defiance look

This look seriously only took me about 3 minutes! The colours were so easy to work with and blended really well. I feel it turned out quite well, considering my amateur skills! . The first colour is Defiance, it is very much like Seedy Pearl as it is a whitish pink with pink iridescence. This is a veluxe pearl, and I found it was pigmented and easy to work with. This is really pretty. I put this on the inner corner and tear duct. . The second colour is Paradise Island. This colour is the let down of the palette. It isn't very pigmented at all. It is a satin, which isn't one of my favourite finishes anyway, but this one is particularly bad. All I could do with it was use it blend Definace and the next colour together, as placing it on top of both softened the transition as it wasn't pigmented enough to be on it's own on the lid! . The third colour is Star Studded. Although this is a satin as well, the finish is so much better and so much more pigmented than Paradise Island. I used this on the main part of the lid blended into Defiance with paradise Island used on top to soften the blending. This really made the eyelid look girly with a pop of beautiful pink! . The final colour, Real Drama, is like a maroon/brown-pink. This was super pigmented and deep in colour so it was great as a crease colour! It was pretty easy to work with for a satin, so I was pretty impressed with this shadow. . Overall I love this quad, and I love the looks you can do with it! The colours are pretty damn good, and easier to work with then valience. The let down was Paradise island, however it still came in useful. This is a super girly look, and I will be using this quite a lot!

Laura's Look book! Wonder Woman Valient

Wonder Woman Valiant look

This was hot and miss for me! I have already reviewed this product, however I noticed some more things when doing this look, as I find when doing a look you tend to see the colour's performance better when blending and using with other colours, rather than just working with each colour individually (which is what I did for my first review.) . So here is my look and more in depth review!! . The first colour Manila Paper is gorgeously pigmented and shimmery, and applies really well. It really is a gorgeous shadow, which is a white shade, and I wish they did this in the permanent line as a single! I put this in the inner corner and tear duct. . The second colour is Valiant, which is a frost, is also very beautiful shade, which is a yellowy lime colour, and has glitter through it. However it does need a few applications to build up the colour. I put this on the left half of the lid. . The third colour is Diana Undercover. This is a satin however to me it was more like a matte. I found it very pigmented, but with this look it it was so difficult to blend and apply. This is a very deep green forest colour, and would have been good as a crease colour, but I found it a little difficult to work with, and with it being so dark it was hard to hide the errors. I blended this into the next colour. . The last colour is Spinning Transformation, which is a brown shade. This is another frost, and I found like Valiant it needed multiple applications to build up the colours, but that being said, it was easier to blend than Undercover Diana. I blended this with Undercover Diana and brought it up into the crease. . This is isn't one of my best eye looks, and I found the last 2 colours a little more difficult to work with, however I still really like this look and the colour combination!

MAC Wonder Woman Lipglasses Vs Usual Lipglasses

lipglass

I am doing a Wonder Woman Lipglass and usual lipglass comparison, as not much has been written (and photographed) about the differences between the two, and there are a lot of differences! . Firstly, I can not believe how huge these Wonder Woman glosses are! They are twice the size of the normal lipglasses since these contain 10.5g, whereas the usual lipglasses only contain 4.8g!! But that isn't the only difference, in my picture look at the size of the lid/handle and doe foot applicator! Everything about the Wonder Woman glosses is twice as big! . The Wonder Woman glosses also work out as better value, as the sad act I am I did the maths. The usual glosses work out at £2.60 per gram, however the wonder woman glosses work out at £1.62 per gram! nearly £1 difference per gram is a pretty big difference! Sorry, I don't know the price difference in other countries! . The pigmentation of the Wonder Woman glosses is fantastic! They're very vibrant, lovely and shimmery and they aren't too sticky, and they cover the lips in colour. I'd say Emancipation is the least pigmented, but since it is a lighter and more nude colour then the others it is understandable. . The down side; . The Wonder Woman gloss applicator is quite annoying, it's too big to use properly as you can't apply very accurately and precisely due to the huge doe foot, but also the big chunky handle makes it a little awkward to work with. So yes, the big chunky look is cute, I love that the lipglasses are jumbo, however practically this isn't very useful! . Another down side is the packaging, most people seem to hate it, and I must say I am not particularly fond... unless it is housing a big mac and fries!! Why, oh, why couldn't Wonder Woman be pictured on it like she is on the cardboard boxes, rather than boring yellow writing!? . What are your thoughts on the glosses? Do you think MAC should bring out some more jumbo glosses?

MAC Wonder Woman Collection; Overall Thoughts

My MAC Wonder Woman CollectionMy MAC Wonder Woman Collection

I have been looking forward to this collection for a long time. I was a massive fan of Wonder Woman as a child, so this was speaking out to the child in me, and naturally the child in me wanted it all and wanted it now!

Love;

1) The size of the items - The lipglasses are jumbo as are the blushes and MSFs, and I love the amount of product you get! I love how the products look giant in comparison to permanent line items and items from past collections!

2) The colour selection - There are some gorgeous bright colours in this collection, really bright and eye-catching and feminine! However there is also a nude option in terms of lips, which I think is nice as colour-wise it covers a lot of bases.

3) Pigmentation of lipglasses - The lipglasses are so vibrant and strong in colour, they aren't sticky or gloopy, they're unique and have gorgeous shimmer to them.

4) Outer packaging - The outer packaging is gorgeous, it has comic book style illustrations relating to Wonder Woman's antics and relating it to make-up (saving MAC girls from becoming plain Jane's). There are bold colours, lovely gold detail, and it is such a lovely touch and makes sense for a collection based on a comic. HOWEVER, why are the actual plastic containers not like this??

And so we move on to the dislikes section of my review;

1) Product packaging - This has been described as "McDonalds" packaging, and it is not hard to see why. All I like is the gold detailing around the edges, other then that it is boring and plain red and blue plastic! Oh, the disappointment I felt to see such an awesome cardboard box with cute illustrations, to then open it up and find a red and blue lump of plastic with writing on it... oh, how sad! It had such potential, and they could have made it lovely, they could have had comic illustrations on it, but no! This was a bigger let down then the disney packaging (how much better would it have been with the sketched images on the packaging?!) The only pro I have about the packaging is that all items, even the nail varnishes and pigments have the limited edition packaging... no matter how naff it is!

2) Eyeshadow pigmentation - A lot of the eyeshadows aren't as pigmented as I think they ought to be. Sure it is good value to get 4 colours for less then the price of 3, however some colours are let downs and I found that in each quad there was at least 1 disappointing colour.

3) Cost - The items in this collection are really quite expensive, yes some of the items are jumbo in comparison so you get more product, but I am sure a lot of people in this economic climate would prefer the usual sized product at a cheaper price, so then some people aren't excluded so much from this collection due to just having a certain amount of pocket money etc. However even the lipsticks and pigments are dearer and they contain the same amount of product as the normal line!

4) Lipglass applicators - The lipglasses are jumbo so naturally the applicator ended up jumbo too. This doesn't make application all that easy, but also the big handle/lid doesn't help.

5) Permanent line items - For such a highly anticipated collection I think it all should be limited edition, or repromotes, but I don't think Russian Red and Deep Truth should have been in the collection. If you are going to do such a high profile collection I think all the items should be unique to that collection, though I think repromotes are OK as I missed Marquise D' first time round, so was glad they brought it back!

Hopefully I have covered everything, no doubt when I publish this I will remember something I left out! Hopefully I have the main points listed, though :] I still have to review the Spirit of Truth to write up, and swatch photos to take, so that will hopefully be with you shortly!

MAC Wonder Woman "Wonder Woman"

MAC Wonder Woman "Wonder Woman" Lipglass

Normally the item named after the collection sells well, however this doesn't seem like the one of the popular items in the collection, and I don't know why as this is a gorgeous bright red gloss, which looks awesome with flecks of gold glitter. I absolutely love this shade. It is very pigmented, you don't need to apply much, the consistency isn't gloopy or sticky and the glitter isn't over the top either, it compliments the red well. This would look lovely and very bold on top of Russian Red! As mentioned in my Emancipation and Athena's Kiss review the doe foot applicator is huge and a little harder to use for application, however I love the fact you get so much more product in these jumbo lipglass tubes!

MAC Wonder Woman Athena's Kiss

MAC Wonder Woman Athena's Kiss Lipglass

This is a gorgeous gloss! It is a purpley pink/fuschia, that is very eye-catching! I love my hot pinks and this really floats my boat. it has a lovely shimmer and it is really pigmented! the gloss covers the lips beautifully without settling into lines or being overly sticky. As I mentioned in my review for Emancipation, this tube is huge, so it's good value for money! But the massive doe foot applicator is a little more difficult to use then a brush or a smaller applicator, as it is so big that it is hard to keep the colour in the confines of the lips. Either way I love this gloss and hope I never run out! If you like eye-catching girly glosses, grab it!

MAC Wonder Woman Emancipation

MAC Wonder Woman Emancipation Lipglass

This is like Marquise D' in a lipgloss, it is gorgeous! It is a nude peachy/beige shimmery gloss. I love this! it goes in the lines of the lips a bit, but it is very pigmented, however non-sticky and it lasted well. This tube is huge, so you get a lot for your money! The massive doe foot applicator is a little more difficult to use then a brush or a smaller applicator, as it is so big that it is hard to keep the colour in the confines of the lips! Other then that I am loving these jumbo lipglasses, bring some more out MAC!

MAC Wonder Woman Spitfire

MAC Wonder Woman Spitfire Lipstick

This is an unusual colour. It is a magenta which is a bit hit and miss with a lot of people. It's a satin finish that is buildable, so you can use it lightly for a tint of colour, or you can layer it for a flash of shocking colour! It doesn't have a nice sheen to it like the lustres, but I prefer it to mattes. This reminds me of a lighter and more pink Rebel, it is deep and dark purple, so if you miss this maybe try using Rebel (permanent lipstick colour) lightly instead.

MAC Wonder Woman Marquise D'

MAC Wonder Woman Marquise D' Lipstick

This is one nude that actually suits me, it nudes your lips but doesn't wash out all the colour! It is a beige/peachy based nude with shimmer. This was the first lipstick to sell out, and it was also popular when it made an appearance with blondes, brunettes and redheads collection. It is a lovely shade so it is no wonder so many people like it, I reckon it would suit most skin tones. This is a lustre, and I find that it is really smooth and pigmented in application, and it also has a nice sheen to it. I think it is a lovely staple colour that would be great in any collection! I would snag it if you still can!

MAC Wonder Woman Defiance Quad

MAC Wonder Woman Defiance Eyeshadow Quad

This is the girly pink quad from the Wonder Woman Collection. The colours are; Defiance - This is a light whitey pink with pink iridescence. It reminds me of a more smooth and easier to apply seedy pearl. I love this colour a lot, I will definitely be using this. (I couldn't quite photograph it accurately, it's nicer irl then it pictures!) However, it isn't as soft and as easy to apply as other Veluxe Pearls, that is the only real drawback. Paradise Island - This is described as a soft pink, which is about right, it is a very light baby pink. It isn't overwhelmingly pigmented, but it is buildable and smooth. There is no shimmer in this colour, it is quite matte. It is still pretty easy to work with, and it is nice for a more subtle colour. Star Studded - This is described by MAC as a violent pink, and I'd agree. This has a shimmer through it and is a super pigmented purpley pink. I Love this colour, it is so Barbie! it is the most eye catching colour in the quad. Real Drama - This is supposed to be a burgundy with pink shimmer, however to me it looks more brown with glitter. It is very pigmented, and it is red tinged however not really burgundy. It is soft to apply, and easy to work with, however there isn't really too much to say about it!

MAC Wonder Woman Valiant Quad

MAC Wonder Woman Valient

This is the green based eyeshadow quad, Valiant. It is a lovely spring colour quad, and definitely one for those who, like me, love their greens! The colours in this are; Manilla Paper - This is a shimmery white colour, it is pigmented considering it is such a light colour, but maybe a little too pigmented to use as a highlight colour. It is lovely & shimmery. I'd love this on the tear duct and corner of the eye to open the eye up and make them look bigger. Valiant - This is a lovely light lime green. It isn't massively pigmented, but it is buildable & a lovely shade. It is a smooth application and is lovely and shimmery. Spinning Transformation - Described by MAC as a deep forest green, I'd say it was more black based with green shot through. This would be great as a crease colour, however I wish it was more forest green and less blackened. It is quite matte, even though it's a satin, so again I think this will be good as a crease colour, but not all over the lid. It is very pigmented and easy to work with, so it isn't all doom and gloom about this colour. Diana Undercover - This is supposed to be an olive bronze with yellow pearl, whereas to me it just appears brown, though in bright light you can see a goldy tinge/shimmer to it. I reckon it might work better if it was used wet, but really I don't believe it can be described as "olive", although it does appear so in the pan. Overall, very complimentary colours, this quad will enable some beautiful looks, however not all the shadows are as MAC describe them. I think it is still worth getting if you like your greens though!

MAC Wonder Woman Valient

MAC Wonder Woman Pink Power

MAC Wonder Woman Pink Power MSF

Grab it if you can, it's selling out everywhere! This is the lighter more pink based MSF (mineralize skin finish). I love this for a few reasons; I love the peachy pink colours of this MSF, so it is no surprise to me that this is the more popular one that is selling out. There is a shimmery light pink, a more matte pinky bronzed colour & a more shimmery peachy pink. This pretty much has you covered in terms of blush, bronze & highlight, this one compact is all you need. The colours are pigmented/buildable. I am not a fan of the glitterball face, however this appears more shimmery/dewy then glittery, so I have really become a fan of this. Not only is the colour selection great, but the application is smooth, which is perfect for someone like me who has dry skin and sometimes has trouble with powders. The fact it is shimmery/dewy rather then glittery also helps dry skin look better. I guess the fact it is mineral based also helps with skin. The mix of textures is nice, the shimmer, the more glittery section and the matte bronzed part, there is something for everyone. I am not normally a fan of mattes, but this matte is smooth and very workable, so I don't mind this one at all! This would be good for any skin tone, however if you are light skinned this is definitely the one to go for, I'd avoid Golden Lauriet in favour for this. Darker skin tones would suit either this however you could also go for Golden Lauriet, I'd say Pink Power is more versatile.
