Review: MAC Paint pot

This is a review for MAC paint pots, in terms of being an eyeshadow base.

MAC Paint pot in Soft Ochre

I have this in "soft ochre" it matches my skin tone and creates a neutral base to make eyeshadow pop. It really does work, I have oily lids and so too faced primer or urban decay primer doesn't work it just makes my lids more oily and slides in my crease and fades, so the paint pot being more matte is a lot more effective for grabbing the shadow and holding it in place on the lid. I certainly wouldn't go back to primers. I have also seen them used well as eyebrow colour.

The only thing that bugs me is the fact it is so heavy because there is so much glass, the bottom is just solid glass and there isn't even any product stored there. It just seems so wasteful in my eyes.

So this product gets a 4 out of 5 for being an awesome base, but loses a point due to the unnecessary packaging.

Review: Sleek iDivine eyeshadow palettes

This is a review for Sleek palettes purchased from Superdrug stores.
Original
Sleek iDivine "The Original"
Sleek The Original palette

Storm
Sleek iDivine "Storm"
Sleek Storm palette

Sunset
Sleek iDivine "Sunset"
Sleek Sunset palette

These colours are so pigmented and and there are some really nice colours sets. They go on well and most blend well. The packaging is strong and sturdy and the big mirror is very helpful, especially if you were to take it on your travels. The value is unbelievable, currently they are £4.99 per palette! I would advise anyone to go for these palettes as you can do so many looks with them, they are good quality and inexpensive. I will certainly be buying all the ones they have in the future, I currently own Original, Storm and Sunset.

I award sleek palettes 5 out of 5, as you really can't go wrong with these!!

Review: A couple of Estee Lauder products

This is a review for Estee Lauder foundation, "Double Wear" to be specific and "take it away" make-up remover.

Estee Lauder Double wear

It claims; 15-hour staying power. Flawless all day.

This worry-free, long-wearing makeup stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity.
Won't change colour, smudge or come off on clothes.
Feels lightweight and comfortable.
Now the flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.

I had this in shell and the colour match was fantastic, as was the coverage and the staying power. The packaging was nice too, if not a little heavy with the glass though. However it was very thick and heavy and smelt like paint. I also found it too matte, because I have dry skin it looked very chalky and would not blend in at all! I ended up taking it back because it made every single line on my face stand out and it appeared to age my skin by 50 years! When I took it off I had all lumps down my face and it stung really bad, I couldn't moisturise for 2 days because it made my skin so delicate after using it. I would say I could be allergic to foundation however I have since tried Chanel Prolumiere and it blended fine, looked natural and caused to irritation or allergic reaction at all.

So in a nutshell, if you have oily skin it would probably work well, but for dry and sensitive skin I would say it is one to miss, it is not moisturising or delicate it was drying and irritating.

So based on my skin type I would give this 2 out of 5.

Take it away make-up remover

Estee Lauder Take It Away make up remover

It claims; Quickly and gently removes all makeup, even long-wear or waterproof formulas.

Unique water-based creme-gel refreshes you with a crisp herbal citrus scent.
Rinses away easily and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth with no greasy afterfeel or oily residue.

I love this, it is really gentle, and has a lovely but not overpowering fragrance. It removes all types of make-up effectively and with ease, and leaves the skin super soft afterwards. This is definitely the best make-up remover I have used, especially with my sensitive skin. It leaves no stickiness, residue or oil and it lasts for ages as it is quite a big bottle.

I would give this product my first ever 5 out of 5! I know I normally give lower scores, but only because I am a tough critic and want value for money, not because I am unnecessarily harsh. This product is a great product for the price you pay.

Review: No 7 Cleanse and Care Make-up remover

This is available only at Boots stores.

I have a love hate relationship with this product. I find it wipes off eyeshadow and eyeliner in seconds, however to get all the difficult to remove bits of mascara near the roots of the lash I find it takes a little longer. A little bit of product goes a long way but the pump you use to get the product out of the bottle is awful, it squirts everywhere, so the pump is a gonna, I just take it off when I need to use it! It makes my skin a little greasy though it appears to soak in or at least just disappears somewhere. It makes my skin a little red however it doesn't feel sore or irritated. It doesn't hurt your eye if you accidently get some in it, it just made my vision a little blurry (I wear contacts so don't know if that makes a difference?)

I will award this product 3/5 because it does it's job and well, but has a couple of drawbacks and would be nice if it was a little cheaper considering those drawbacks.

Review: Lipgloss

n this update I will be reviewing MAC Plushglass in Full For You, and L'Oreal Glamshine Volumizer in Fuschia Obsession.

Firstly; MAC Plushglass in Full For You.

MAC Full For You Plushglass

This was the brightest pink they had, however the colour pay off isn't nearly as good as I expected. It smells a bit random, like a sort of gingerbready smell to it, but feels nice on the lips and goes on nice. It does plump up the lips a little. It was slightly glittery but not overwhelmingly so. Do not wear if you have slightly dry, chapped or very liney lips as it will create more lines, wont have a smooth finish and may get little clumps of lip gloss on the surface. It lasts a while on the lips.

MAC Full For You Plushglass

I would give this 3/5 as it was nice, plumped a little, felt nice and tingly, could go clumpy and liney and the colour pay off wasn't as bright and glossy as I would have liked. It was expensive for the amount you get and they should have brighter more plumping colours. I would use it again though, but would make sure my lips are well moisturised first.
And the last one of the update; L'Oreal Glamshine Volumizer in Fuschia Obsession

L'Oreal Glamshine volumizer in Fuschia

I love this colour it is so deep pink and sparkly, and looks really glossy, sparkly and bright on. It lasts for ages, just looks a little less glossy as time goes on. It has a really good colour pay off. The only thing I am not keen on is the applicator which is flame/less rounded tear drop shape which is a bit furry and the shape makes application to the top lip a bit more difficult. Also gives a plumped look due to the deep and shiny colour. It smells like fruity candy though it may not be to everyone's tastes. I would say it was more glossy then the plushglass.

Overall I would give this 4/5 as it is a really lovely colour, gloss, sparkle, it smells nice and it does last a while. It is tingly and plumping just like the plushglass but it was half the price of the plushglass and you get much more. But it doesn't get full marks due to the applicator. I think your lips would need to be moisturised for this gloss too.

Review: MAC Prep + Prime Lash primer

Well I don't really need a primer however I thought it is a staple for many people, so I thought I would review it. So here we go...

I found that this did make the lashes look longer, however was prone to clumping and made it harder to shape and direct the shape your lashes went in. It also curved the end of the lashes weirdly so I had to dab the end of the lashes so the mascara came off so it didn't look so weird, spidery and misshaped (so hard to explain but it made the end of the lashes go weird). But if you use any less it has no effect whatsoever. Maybe it would work better with a MAC mascara, however I used Diorshow Iconic (which I will also review) and it just did not work with it at all.

I would rate this 2/5 as it just had more negative effects then positive, it either made no difference or just made the lashes unmanageable and a bit of a mess! It may have a better rating with other mascaras.

Review: Some Too Faced eye products

In this update I will be reviewing Eye Shadow Insurance Policy palette, Liquif-eye Shadow Collection and First base eyeshadow base and primer.

First up; Eye Shadow Insurance Policy palette

too faced eye shadow insurance policy

Too faced insurance policy shadows

I love this palette, it has gorgeous colours that are creamy, blendable and highly pigmented. I did find they were prone to creasing or slid into the crease of the eye rather then staying on the lid, but used with my everyday base they stayed on a bit better, but still faded by the end of the day. But the colours are worth the hassle and it is a good price. The shadow insurance primer didn't work for me as I have oily lids and thats what created the colour sliding into the crease of the eye.

I would award this palette 4/5, but that is purely for the beautiful, pigmented and rich colours.

Second up; Liquif-eye Shadow Collection

Too faced liquif-eye shadow collection

Too faced liquif-eye shadows

This palette is great as it has some exclusive colours, and some resemble MAC colours (the moss green = MAC Humid; The purple = MAC Parfait Amore; the sparkly grey = MAC print etc) so they are really good colours, pigmented and rich as I normally find with Too Faced eyeshadows.

The drawbacks are that the liquif-eye solution I found didn't work as well as dampening an eyeliner brush (which is a lot cheaper), and some of these colours are on the Eye Shadow Insurance policy palette and Smoky Eye kit. I wish they would use completely different colours for each palette so you don't have doubles of everything and have more variety.

I would award this 4/5 as it is a cute little palette with a variety of cute and pigmented colours.

Finally; First Base primer and base

I was looking for a base (currently using Revlon creme shadows without primer, which works well with MAC but not so much with Too faced) that worked with Too Faced, so I tried this base by the same company. It was more expensive then the Revlon quad, however I have found you have to pile it on to get any sort of good coverage, it isn't so good if you want a daytime look as it is very sparkly, and the colour still just slipped into the crease rather then staying on the lid, and it didn't have a good colour pay off (I didn't make a good enough base for the colour to pop like most creme bases do) so it didn't work that well at all. It is a cute idea and can be used for a sparkly highlight, but does not work well as a base/primer. It is meant to be soothing as well, however it goes on so sparse that I couldn't feel any effects.

I would award this 2/5, it is a cute sparkle but is not a good primer, base and has bad coverage for oily lids. Doesn't do what it says on the box.

Review: Olay regenerist 30 second wrinkle filler

I have been away for a very long time, so it is about time I showed my face again. I will be doing a series of reviews mainly beauty products, as I have been building up and reinventing my make-up collection. I am a little brassic at the moment so will I will review what I have at the moment, and will then update reviews of new products as I get them. So the first few reviews will be bulk from things I have previously purchased.

The product: Olay Regenerist 30 second wrinkle filler.

It claims; Olay Regenerist 30 second wrinkle filler, fills inside creases and seals at the surface to diminish the look of fine lines & wrinkles.

I am 22 but have deep set wrinkles on my forehead from frowning too much and over animated facial expressions as a child (I was a moody child, I grew out of it.... for the most part!) paired with very soft skin. so when I heard about this and saw positive reviews I thought "brilliant, I can finally get rid of them temporarily". However I warn you, this did not work at all, well for me anyway. Made absolutely no difference to any lines I have, even the fine lines! It is a very expensive product and it just didn't deliver. The cream itself is very soft and silky so it is pleasant to apply, but it just doesn't do it's job.

I would award this 1/5.
